Making IPTV Return on the Investment

A global company providing telecommunication equipment to the telecom service provider space wanted to evaluate the tradeoffs associated with the infrastructure to be used to support IPTV and Triple Play services. The Solutions Lab turned to us to create a model that would evaluate the Total Cost of Ownership for the service.

A Model That Answers "What If"

Using the UnisonSM Business Planning Framework supported by the UnisonSM MCS business simulation tool, we were able to deliver a dynamic model that captured the TCO and exercised over 250 inputs across 5 time periods. The resulting model illustrated what was important, what would drive excessive cost and where the IPTV customers should focus their attention to drive cost and risk out of the infrastructure, support and network. The model was later enhanced to introduce multiple revenue sources thus presenting how the service provider customers can drive IPTV and Triple Play services to profitability faster.
